2020 Sand Sculpting Theme – Community Votes Requested!

January 10, 2020

Parksville, BC: The Parksville Beach Festival Society is actively planning the 2020 Quality Foods Sand Sculpting Competition and Exhibition. Set to run July 10 through August 16 alongside Parksville’s magnificent beach, the sand sculptures will feature a specific theme and the public can help choose that theme.

“Theme ideas are discussed at our annual planning meeting each year where we consider such things as trends, upcoming celebrations and events. Theme ideas need to be broad so our international sculptors can appreciate the design guidelines”, says Wendy Sears, Event Manager. “We invite the community to visit our Theme Voting Form and vote for their favourite theme from a choice of three: “Roaring 20’s”, “Topsy Turvy”, or “Celebrate!”. Voting on-line will be open from January 9 through until February 17, 2020.”

Cheryl Dill, President of the Beach Festival Society is pleased with how the 2020 plans are coming along. “Our creative directors and event managers are discussing fresh ideas for the five-week-long event. We value public input to help design the events for Beach Festival”, comments Dill.

Themes from previous years have been “Myths & Legends”, “Wild Things – from here to the Galapagos”, “Canada One-Five-Oh”, “Things with Wings”, “Heroes and Villains”, “A Celebration of Music” and “Fairytales”.

International sculptor recruitment and sponsorship is the main focus at present. The Society will reveal more details later this Spring. For more information visit www.parksvillebeachfest.ca or email info@parksvillebeachfest.ca.
