The Parksville Beach Festival Society allocates 25% of the gate proceeds annually to community development initiatives. The majority of these funds are shared with local, philanthropic groups who serve as volunteer gate ambassadors. Over 150 volunteers welcome visitors through the gate at the sand sculpting site each year, contributing 2700 person hours to the Parksville Beach Festival.
Since 1999, Parksville Beach Festival has provided $689,000 to philanthropic groups and community projects including the Parksville Community Park sign, the Exit 46 Community Entrance Sign and the Parksville Beach Boardwalk Gazebo. The Society is currently working with the City of Parksville to build an outdoor theatre in the Community Park for all to enjoy!
The Parkville Beach Festival Society has been leading an initiative, in collaboration with the City of Parksville, to fully fund and construct an Outdoor Theatre for the Performing Arts in our beautiful community park. This multi-purpose facility will accommodate a wide range of uses, from small musical groups to symphony orchestras, theatrical performances, movies in the park, indigenous celebrations, and more. The theatre will become the home of Beachfest’s Tim Horton’s Summer Concert Series.
We are looking forward to the stage being available for use by local performers and organizations, as well as attracting outside event organizers to Parksville. Construction of the new facility is expected to begin in 2021.
