There is plenty to experience Summer 2016 in Parksville, BC!The Parksville Beach Festival Society's Quality Foods Canadian Open Sand Sculpting Competition will take place at the Parksville Community Park on July 15-17, 2016 with the Exhibition open until August 21, 2016. Sculptors prepare their sculpting bases on Thursday, July 14, but the competition isn't open to the public until the following day at 2 pm, when the public can witness the architecture and creativity emerge from the sand! The official opening begins at 2pm Friday July 15 with the ribbon cutting just outside the sculpting zone gates. The gate will remain open until 9pm throughout the exhibition (until August 21). Hours will be 9am-9pm daily. Admission is by suggested donation of $3.00 per person. Due to liability issues and potential damage to the sculptures, dogs must stay outside of the sculpting zone.
The Quality Foods Canadian Open Sand Sculpting Competition and Exhibition has been designated as "Official Qualifier" for the World Championships of Sand Sculpting. According to the Executive Director of the World's event, this designation was awarded based on our dedication to the enhancement of sand sculpting art through quality and professionalism. This will guarantee our First Place solo winner an automatic placement in The World Championships of Sand Sculpting. Airfare, hotel, and accommodations and an appearance and completion stipend will be included. The 2nd & 3rd Place winners will have their names in a pool to be drawn upon as space permits.
