What to look for as you make your decision:
- Wow Factor 30 points
Wow factor means anything that is extraordinary. A sculpture can be the most amazing sculpture ever, an art piece might have the best sculpture of a human you've seen so far, a piece can be the funniest, most clever piece or perhaps the carving technique is the wow factor
- Artistic Merit 35 POINTS
Artistic Merit would be the actual skill in composing and carving the sculpture. The idea, the consistent carving, the proportions, fine details, etc.
- Degree of difficulty 25 POINTS
Degree of difficulty would be the technical, overhangs, under cuts, cut through, height, vertical, arches etc
- Use of Sand 10 POINTS
Use of sand would be having a ten ton pile of sand and carving the whole thing with a good deal of detail OR having a ten ton pile of sand, carving a castle at the top of it that takes up half a ton and then carving rocks with relatively no detail over the rest of it. This would apply in a very real way if you have a collapse in the last few hours and have to create something else.

TECHNICAL DIFFICULTY:
Cut throughs, undercuts/ overhangs, height, hollowing out, narrowness of vertical elements, depth of cut, total area carved, control of sand and degree of completeness
ARTISTIC MERIT:
Clean carving, fine details, accurate proportions, lifelike living forms, illusion of movement, expressive faces, expressive body poses, visual impact and display of action
COMPOSITIONAL DESIGN
Overall design: balanced appearance, consistent theme, variety of shapes and shadows, number of sculptures, proportion of space utilized, originality, creativity, imagination.
