The Parksville Beach Festival Society needs your support!Parksville's Sand Sculpting Competition history dates back to 1982, when it hosted its first "B.C. Open". A total of 100 people attended the first event, and it was reviewed as a "great success". From the BC Open to its present day title which welcomed 115,188 people in 2019 "The Quality Foods Sculpting Competition", has evolved into a world class Master Sculptor competition.
The Quality Foods Canadian Open is the only competition in Canada designated as a qualifying event for the World Championship of Sand Sculpting. This designation was awarded based on the dedication to the enhancement of sand sculpting art through quality and professionalism. This will guarantee the First Place winner in the Solo and Double divisions an automatic placement in the World Championship of Sand Sculpting.
The Parksville Beach Festival Society is seeking financial and in-kind support for the 2020 Parksville Beach Festival. Known to locals as "Beach Fest', this 5 1/2 week long festival runs July 9 to August 16 and includes the Quality Foods Sand Sculpting Competition & Exhibition, a weekend summer concert series, buskers and an artisan market. It is a family-oriented festival, and the support of the community and sponsors is essential to its success.
We are also working on a few 'extra' events that we will announce in the weeks ahead, as well as FREE public sand sculpting demonstrations and lessons during opening weekend, our annual art show, Art in the Park and our evening Light Up of the sculptures.
Thank you for your support, we could not do this without you!
