2017 Sand Sculpting Theme Selected!Parksville, BC, Planning for the 2017 Parksville Beach Festival, featuring the Quality Foods Sand Sculpting Competition and Exhibition, is well underway. Set to run July 14 through August 20 alongside Parksville's magnificent beach, the sand sculpting event will once again feature an overarching theme. This year’s theme is confirmed: “Canada One-Five-O - Celebrating 150 years”.
Cheryl Dill, President of the Beach Festival Society is pleased with an early theme decision as it provides more time for planning. "Canada’s 150th birthday is an excellent backdrop on which to plan Parksville Beach Festival. This theme will engage locals and international visitors alike”, comments Dill.
International sculptor recruitment is already underway with Event Manager Wendy Sears preparing for the application process. "The master sand sculptors appreciate design guidelines and aim to please our visitors", says Wendy Sears, Event Manager. “The sculptors are very creative and there will be much anticipation for viewing their ode to Canada”.
In 2016, the Quality Foods Sand Sculpting Competition and Exhibition drew 133,430 visitors through the gates – a record breaking year.
